Tom McCarthy absorbed an eclectic design background working in New England, the Mid-Atlantic states, and the Carolinas. He studied the grand homes along the Connecticut River, the sea captains homes of the New England Coast, Boston mansions, and Pennsylvania stone farmhouses. An early supporter of historic Williamsburg, VA, he studied southern styles from Maryland to the Carolinas and early Florida estates.
Mr. McCarthy began his studies in engineering at the University of Vermont and later incorporated the liberal and design arts at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire. He maintains several professional certifications at the University of South Carolina.
A registered builder (licensed, bonded, and insured), he is a member of NAHB the National Association of Home Builders. A registered surveyor and realtor. Mr. McCarthy is frequently consulted on engineering for high wind events and loads.
